How to choose a skirt

Tell us what you're looking for and we'll search the stores themselves, right now, and show the results with each store's price.

Midi or maxi?

A midi ends around mid-calf and a maxi near the ankle. A midi is easier for a quick walk, and a maxi gives more cover and flow.

Cut

An A-line flares slightly from the waist and suits most shapes. A pencil skirt is fitted, so check for a slit and how much the fabric stretches. Pleats and tiers add movement. A circle skirt opens the most. An elastic waist gives more room between sizes, and it's worth looking for in plus-size skirts too.

Slits and stride

In a long, fitted skirt, the height of the slit and the width of the stride change both comfort and cover. The store's description usually says if there's a slit, and the photo from behind shows it.

Fabric

Denim holds its shape and stretches a little. Viscose and jersey move and drape. Satin is glossy and suits the evening. In light colours, check whether it's lined.

Questions and answers

What's the difference between a midi and a maxi skirt?

A midi ends around mid-calf, a maxi near the ankle. Each store measures length a little differently, so check the description.

How do I check for a slit?

Read the description and open the item's photos, especially the one from behind. Stores don't always mention a slit in words.

Why isn't every result an exact match?

We read what each store writes, and sometimes a store doesn't say everything. The results page explains what we checked.
